C'mon...764 NEW Covid Cases...Really?
Updated figures this morning from the Disease Outbreak Control Division (State of Hawaii) outline the rising cases of Covid19 on each island. Disturbingly, these number reflect an alarming rise despite health department campaigns to "slow the spread" by vaccination, hand-washing, social distancing, and a generous dose of common sense.
Maybe it's the common sense element that seems to elude portions of our community.
Or the fact that some folks in the community feel that they don't have to do anything at all about this, simply because they don't agree/believe in the science, government, fill-in-the-blank.
What's pretty phenomenal about these current statistics is that cases are escalating at a significant rate and yet, so many people continue to doubt and reject the undeniable evidence that Covid is not going away anytime soon.
Personal opinions aside, I hold no grievance toward my son's school for mandating that all student athletes and athletic personnel be vaccinated. I applaud and support the restaurants who follow thru on contact tracing. I appreciate the businesses that continue to offer contactless ordering, payment, delivery or pickup. The first responders and frontline health workers are my heroes.
Protecting your family, friends, and humanity-at-large is the new norm. The game of life just got cranked up a notch (thanks, variants). There's a classic 80s TV show called "Hill Street Blues." At the end of the morning briefing, Police Sargent Phil Esterhaus would always say, "Hey remember, let's be careful out there." Lots of wisdom in those words. Now go take your noni.
I have known that the number of new COVID infection in the US is theeseday getting higher. However, I did not know about the specific situation in Hawaii. Thank you for sharing information!!
